Optimize Your Day For Maximum Productivity
I will be the first to admit there are days when I do not get anything done. Maybe it’s because I oversleep, get distracted by other tasks, or my favorite show is back on Netflix. But I am trying to find that balance of time to get things done and time to lose myself in the endless holes of Youtube. Here are a few tips that have helped me optimize my day for maximum productivity and might help you too!
- Set up a morning ritual
For me this actually starts the night before. I try to get to bed around the same time every night so that I can wake up the same time every morning. However, this is WAY easier said than done since I am actually a person who would much rather burn the midnight oil than be the early bird with the worm. So for me that means using my smartphone to tell me when to get ready for bed (and actually listening to it). Then when I wake up in the morning I have my routine of coffee and breakfast then check my emails and work on things that I do not need a brain for (I said I wasn’t a morning person). This is where my second tip comes in!
- Plan your schedule around your energy
I am typically more productive in the evenings because I have already left the house (and “started my day”), worked out, and usually have gotten some people time (I like to ramble to anyone who will listen about nothing important). So my “energy time” is late in the day and I use this time to get important tasks done. For me those tasks can be anything from shooting and editing Heroes videos to writing blog posts (or anything that requires me to think clearly).
- Create a list of tasks
I always need to write a list if I want anything to get done. This is not because I have a type A personality, it is actually because I don’t. I find that I am much like Dory in Finding Nemo, and I cannot remember that I have to do things without writing them down. This also allows me to see that I have completed things on my list which makes me feel more accomplished!
